About the Founder

Deirdre Symons, M.S. Ed is an educator, founder, and fierce advocate for children — and the driving force behind Wild Roots Education LLC. With twenty years in education, including twelve in public schools, she has spent her career studying not just how children learn, but what gets in the way — and what it takes to truly remove those barriers.

Deirdre knew early on that teaching was her calling. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K–6) from SUNY Oswego, then deepened her practice with a Master of Science in Literacy Education (K–12) from Touro University — a degree shaped in part by her own early struggles with reading and writing. That lived experience gave her something no classroom alone could: an instinct for where a child is stuck, and the patience to meet them there.

Her understanding of children grew even deeper when she became a mother of three boys, each navigating developmental delays, academic challenges, and complex medical needs. Advocating for her sons — in doctors’ offices, IEP meetings, and every space in between — transformed her. It sharpened her expertise, expanded her lens, and ultimately became the heartbeat of Wild Roots Education.

Deirdre holds a certification in health coaching and contributes to the Documenting Hope project, a research initiative exploring root-cause approaches to reversing chronic childhood conditions. Her work sits at the intersection of education, neuroscience, and whole-child wellness — giving families not just support, but a roadmap.

At Wild Roots Education, Deirdre brings an integrative, whole-child framework that connects learning, biology, and environment. With deep expertise in multiple intelligences, exceptionalities, and neurodiverse learning, she builds individualized pathways for children who have been overlooked, underestimated, or simply not yet understood. She creates a space where every family — whatever their background, beliefs, or story — feels genuinely welcomed and supported.

She believes every child has a root system worth nurturing — and that with the right knowledge, tools, and someone truly in their corner, any learner can not only succeed, but thrive

Meet Our Educators

Carly Faye Loewenthal, M.S.Ed is a teacher and educational consultant with Wild Roots Education LLC. She was the playful, imaginative kid — the one full of ideas, questions, and creative energy who sometimes went unnoticed because she was “doing fine.” That experience stayed with her. Today she’s especially drawn to children with that same spark — the curious, creative ones whose eyes light up when they’re given space to explore, invent, play, and follow their own rhythm. She loves matching their energy, helping them feel truly seen so they can build confidence, internal motivation, and genuine joy in learning.

With a Master’s of Science in Education from Hofstra University and certifications in Elementary Education (K-6), and Gifted endorsed, Carly brings over a decades worth of classroom experience working with gifted, advanced, and diverse learners. After stepping away from traditional teaching to focus on her own healing, she became a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, Life Coach and trained in somatic trauma therapy, nervous system regulation, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. She is currently in a three year program where she is training to become a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

Recently, Carly returned to education with a richer understanding of how stress, regulation, and subconscious patterns shape the homeschooling journey for both kids and parents. This perspective also fuels her private coaching practice, where she supports adults with trauma-informed, mindset, emotional and nutrition-focused transformation.

At Wild Roots Education LLC, Carly teaches students directly while offering educational consultation. Whether working with gifted learners, neurodiverse children, or families transitioning out of conventional schooling, she provides thoughtful guidance and practical strategies that help families move forward with clarity and confidence. She is especially passionate about building community, involving parents, and adapting to each child’s unique path.

Carly believes homeschooling is at its best when it nurtures the whole child and the whole family. She brings warmth, creativity, and hard-earned wisdom to every partnership — always learning and growing right alongside the families she serves.
