At Wild Roots Education, our literacy instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading—a body of research that shows how children learn to read most effectively. We use a systematic, evidence-based phonics program designed to build strong foundational skills in reading and spelling.
Our program is:
Explicit and structured, teaching phonics and decoding step-by-step
Multisensory, engaging learners through sound, movement, and visuals
Backed by research, with a strong emphasis on phonemic awareness, grapheme-phoneme mapping, and decoding
Designed to support confidence and fluency in young and struggling readers
Each learner begins with a comprehensive pre-assessment to identify strengths and gaps, allowing us to create a personalized learning plan tailored to their needs. Whether your child is just starting out or needs extra support, our approach meets them where they are and helps them grow from the roots up.
At Wild Roots Education, we believe reading should be both transformational and joyful. Our genre-based book study units invite students to explore rich, engaging texts—both fiction and nonfiction—while building essential comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills.
Each unit focuses on a specific literary or informational genre, such as historical fiction, biography, poetry, narrative nonfiction, or persuasive texts. As students read within a genre, they also learn to write in that genre—deepening their understanding of text structure, voice, and purpose through meaningful expression.
Students will:
Understand and analyze both literary and informational text features
Build academic vocabulary and background knowledge across subjects
Strengthen comprehension through questioning, discussion, and reflection
Learn to write in a variety of genres, using mentor texts as models
Gain confidence in both creative and analytical writing tasks
By integrating a wide range of genres—both fiction and nonfiction—students develop not just reading fluency, but also the curiosity, communication, and critical thinking needed to thrive as thoughtful readers and expressive writers in the real world.
As a certified educator, Wild Roots Education LLC offers annual homeschool evaluations designed to meet state requirements while honoring each child’s unique learning journey.
During these one-on-one meetings, I’ll review your child’s portfolio of work, reflect on their progress across the year, and provide thoughtful documentation to support your homeschool reporting. Whether you follow a structured curriculum or a more eclectic, interest-led approach, I approach each evaluation with respect for your family’s philosophy and a genuine interest in your child’s growth.
Evaluations include:
A review of work samples, projects, or logs
A brief interview or discussion with your child
Encouraging, constructive feedback
A signed evaluation form or letter to submit for your records
This is more than just a checkbox—it’s a chance to celebrate progress, reflect on the year, and gain clarity for what’s next.
Some families need more than curriculum—they need clarity, confidence, and connection. Whether you’re navigating academic concerns, lifestyle shifts, or complex health journeys, I offer personalized consulting to help you take the next right steps.
This service is designed to guide families through the real-life intersections of learning, wellness, and advocacy. Together, we may explore topics like:
Supporting a struggling learner with tailored strategies
Understanding how to advocate in academic or medical settings
Making practical lifestyle shifts to support focus, behavior, or overall well-being
Navigating curriculum overwhelm or homeschool planning
Simplifying food choices with kitchen support, shopping guidance, or meal routines
Sessions are personalized, family-led, and designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re looking for a one-time consult or ongoing guidance. In-person options may be available for local families.
This is about building systems that work for your life, your child, and your values.

Yes, we accept the step-up scholarship. Right now we are only focused on part-time tutoring, which is a ratio of 1 teacher to 5 students. We are working on a full-time tutoring to be able to host more students.
We currently are hosting sessions at the local library or in your home. We are also able to hold sessions virtually.
We’re happy to help you decide. Start by reaching out for a brief consultation—we’ll learn more about your child’s needs and guide you toward the most helpful service.
Bring samples of your child’s work, a brief summary of what you’ve covered this year, and any progress notes or reflections you’d like to share. We’ll walk through everything together in a relaxed, supportive way.
Consulting services are customized based on your family’s goals. This may include guidance around academic planning, lifestyle shifts to support learning, or help navigating advocacy in educational or medical settings. In some cases, in-home support such as kitchen overhauls or wellness routines may be available locally.
We welcome all learners and take a strengths-based, supportive approach. Our programs are adaptable and informed by current research in brain science, literacy, and child development. We’re happy to collaborate with your existing care team or provide resources to help you better understand your child’s unique learning profile.
